Asbestos kills 100,000 people every year by cancer and other deadly lung diseases. It is banned in 52 countries, including the entire European Union. The Canadian government has even removed it from parliament and the Prime Minister’s home.

Yet, Canada is still a leading exporter of asbestos to developing countries.

As an elected official I believe that Canadians deserve a government that will take responsibility for deadly health impacts of the products we export.

As an elected official I will support:

  • The passage of legislation which brings Canada’s asbestos exports to an end.
  • The instituting of a just transition program for the remaining Canadian asbestos workers and the communities they live in.
